What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Guardium helps us track and monitor who is accessing important or sensitive data, especially in environments where we have multiple databases running. It gives us visibility into database activity, which is super useful for security and compliance. Before using it, it was tough to catch issues unless someone reported them manually. Now, we get alerts for unusual behavior, which helps us respond faster. It’s also made audit and compliance checks much less stressful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial setup and configuration can be quite complex, especially for smaller teams or those without prior experience with IBM tools. There's a definite learning curve, and some features are deeply nested, making them harder to access until you're more familiar with the platform. Also, the licensing and infrastructure costs are relatively high, which might be a challenge for startups or small companies. Lastly, some of the performance reports can lag during high-load periods, so resource optimization is important.
What do you like best about the product?
IBM Guardium has been really helpful for keeping an eye on who’s accessing our sensitive data. I like that it works well with different types of databases, both on-prem and in the cloud, which is important since we use a mix of both. It also comes with ready-made templates for things like GDPR and PCI-DSS, which made compliance checks a lot easier for us. One of the best parts is how it alerts us about unusual user behavior, it actually helped us spot a few things early before they became serious issues.
