What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
MS SQL is the core of our Data Warehouse, a piece of our Business Intelligence solution which is all Microsoft, and all plays so well together. We moved from numerous on-location installations to a cloud based solution with 14 virtual servers, a Production, Test, and Dev Data Warehouse, as well as Prod, Test, and Dev servers for 56 databases all together. Administration overhead is low, leaving us free to develop.
What do you dislike?
I would say the licensing is difficult, but that was changed years ago. I can't say there's anything I dislike about MS SQL.
What do you like best?
I don't know where to begin. The sheer number of MS SQL developers means we're not investing in a non-supportable solution. The support is top notch. The reliability, scalability, and performance. Actually, I like it *all* the best.
