What do you dislike?

Not a lot to dislike. Email integration could be better perhaps allowing more attachments and HTML content, however both of these can be achieved with inexpensive plugin.

What do you like best?

Speed and ease of development. Very quick to make minor changes.

What do you dislike?

There's not a lot to dislike - I've been using it for about 10 years now, and the constant revisions have really helped make very useful changes, and iron out niggles and issues. The licensing costs as the number of users grow can be prohibitive if you are a small organisation with lots of casual staff. This doesn't prevent using the software, but it would be good if there were a way to have an iPhone / iPad connection without the need for a license.

Because Filemaker is so agile and quick to develop, it also means the cost to create something entirely tailored to the way you currently work is surprisingly small

Layout design is fairly static and dated (this has been improved with the Filemaker 12 and above)

FileMaker's WebDirect technology has some limitations that it would be nice to see addressed.

We're able to deploy a solution to an iOS device in a minimum amount of time.

Lack of CSS control. FM could still improve the level of support provided for interface design elements.

FileMaker version 16 has New cURL function for updating websites. It is great. As soon as it came out I was able to use it for a client who wanted to integrate FileMaker with his website.

Assign someone on your business team to be your local internal FileMaker expert, and then hire a dev to work with him/her.

What do you dislike?

Unstored calculations are sometimes a problem. Finding on the same takes time and the application becomes slow.

Finding table occurrences in relationship graph, if it is very big and complex.

What do you like best?

It is quick and easy tool to build applications. One can create desktop as well as web applications.

FileMaker be accessed from iOS devices. One can easily create layouts using drag & drop objects and apply various attractive themes.

What do you dislike?

The interface can be clunky and extremely finicky. Doing most tasks requires a very specific set of steps to acomplish with no tolerance for error.

What do you like best?

I can load all the staff, equipment, and locations into the FileMaker shell and reuse them. The ability to send reminder emails is also very useful.

It will have a learning curve, but if you stick with it, Filemaker will revolutionize your scheduling.

As a non-tech professional myself, I would find it hard to program in the first place.

I find it easy to use as long as somebody in IT has set up all of the templates

You have to do the updates, which we have not always kept up with, otherwise it starts to move very slowly.

What do you dislike?

The program doesn't allow you to view multiple accounts at once.

The program is very organized and straightforward.
