Free and compatible
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
It is a wonderful suite for small businesses that cannot afford the Microsoft license.
What do you dislike?
A zero dollar cost does not denote 'free': the price is that it has compatibility issues, particularly with formatting on DOCX files or macros in XLSX files. This has made it impossible for me to use for work.
What do you like best?
The greatest feature is its dollar cost to end users: nothing.
Recommendations to others considering the product
Consider your day to day tasks. If you are working with intercompany assets, questionnaires, or documents which require complete format accuracy, this has not historically been a reliable option. It has gotten much better. I was a user back in the StarOffice days, and its features have grown incredibly since then. However, each update seems to be implementing more compatibility for Office, and I find that when something is not compatible it is devastating.
If, however, you will use this solely within your own organization, this is a wonderful tool with fantastic community support.
