What do you dislike?

Biggest complaint was that it was very, very slow. Reports could take 15, 20 minutes to process and you couldn't keep working while they ran.

What do you like best?

It provided a useful way to track orders through the supply chain. No frills, but did the job.

Good product, no frills.

What do you dislike?

FileMaker is expensive to maintain. Every year we have to pay an individual or an agency almost $200/hour to fix the little things that break as FileMaker ages. As everything is moving towards web-based databases and products, FileMaker is stuck in the past as a Desktop application. It requires a server to host it and, worst of all, information can easily be deleted if someone doesn't know what they're doing

What do you like best?

We use FileMaker as our internal comprehensive database, and we have built it out to function well for what we need it to do.

Keep searching for other cloud-based options instead of this clunky remnant of the '90s!

What do you dislike?

FileMaker would be even better, should it be available in the native language of my home country, which is Finland and the language is Finnish. Also the present licensing and pricing makes it hard for small users to start or to stay with FileMaker. Certainly the software is worth it, one might say FileMaker is the most underrated software on the market today. But on the other hand there are new "Free of Charge" services appearing constantly. Comparison with Microsoft Office also adds to the confusion. On the other hand FileMaker is incredibly multifaceted and absolutely the best-

What do you like best?

Ease of building a relational database without knowledge of traditional coding languages. Ease of designing a good looking and well working graphical interface. Ease of combining commands and scripts to make touch buttons for others to use intuivitially. Ease of using the one and same solution for distributing over server or locally on Apple Mobile devices. Ease of making the solution available for all, including Android mobile devices by using web browsers.

Consider the possibilities to use this software for multiple implementations, thus easing the pain of the cost.

What do you dislike?

There is nothing I dislike about FileMaker. Well, maybe one thing - if a file is deleted in error, there is no option to recover it.

What do you like best?

FileMaker is one of the main software applications used in my job in higher education. It is very user-friendly, simple to learn and has several reporting mechanisms that streamline our catalog production process.

What do you dislike?

Only being able to add one primary contact for any account, this is not ideal for a company who may have more than one person speaking to that account for different reasons and therefore different points of contact

If you have multiple sales teams using this, I would look at other options as you end up having multiple accounts and duplicates over time

Whenever we needed to change things we had to wait for a contractor to make the needed changes. And it was窶冢t always cheap to customize the software

We could customize the software to add many different features.

Recommendations to others considering the product

FileMaker is high maintenance, poor user interface, poor for mobile and not a cloud based CRM. Using contractors to build out the features we need is costly, slow and sometimes buggy. I would not recommend File Maker.

Some quirky bits like using value lists rather than relational tables. Small fonts when editing table contents is annoying.

Powerful, easy to use. Integrates well with communication needs

What do you dislike?

The UI and UX are a bit outdated and still very confusing to use. UI has many tabs, but completely understandable; however, due to its design, many tabs are not needed and when you accidentally click on certain tabs you can not correct your mistakes. This is why I found it a bit outdated; however, I am unsure is my system administrator ever updated the program due to how long the program be used and how dynamic it is.

What do you like best?

FileMaker is a dynamic program with cross-platform capabilities. We are able to connect it to several computers over a huge school network. This allows all administrators to easily create changes and updates our files on our employees. This proves equally helpful when we are running a system with ten different locations and need to be constantly on the go.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is a learning experience, please prepare to understand a lot of mistakes will be (accidentally deletion of files).

What do you dislike?

Filemaker can be fidgety. The placement of some of the buttons can cause problems as well. For instance, having the "delete record" button right next to the "new record" button. You have to pay attention to what you are doing. There is no room for error. There are no good reports and downloading information is a real pain.

What do you like best?

It has a good database with room for continued development. It is customizable for your company, which means, it can be used by most industries.
