What do you dislike?

I think that some function can be improved in a more professional way. Sometimes you can't so easily manage a project when you have complex shapes

What do you like best?

I like that SketchUp is very easy to learn and use. When I was a student I used it during all my projects and it was very usefull. Almost every students use SketchUp for class.

Very usefull for easy 3D and for students starting to learn about 3D programs

It is a simpler software, so there's only so far you can get with really complex shapes and details.

What do you like best?

SketchUp is very easy to use once you've got the hang of it, and it's uses are pretty broad. Whether you need an accurate reference for perspective drawings of made up worlds or a mockup background for a store layout, it really comes in handy to keep in the software arsenal.

If you want a broader range of features, definitely check out the higher versions of this software before looking elsewhere. It's easy to use and comes in handy in a range of ways.

What do you dislike?

The frustration of line work, sometimes it makes a box sometimes it doesn't.

What do you like best?

Its fairly simple to use, draw a shape, push pull and you have the start of a building.

Its really simple to use, we now use Revit, but I feel like sketch up has taught me and my team valuable lessons for Revit.

Sometines the graphics are not very realistic, making ir hard to ahow to clients without realistic rendering

SketchUp was very easy to learn, its simplicity was what drew me to it

The program sometimes freezes when file sizes get too big. There are some glitches but I can usually google the problem I"m having and figure it out myself.

What do you like best?

I love how creative you can get with this software. Basically, if you can dream it, you can build it here. If you're trying to streamline the process, you can also choose from millions of different pre-made models from their warehouse. It's also fairly easy to learn and there's tons of online resources if you get stuck.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get the free version, or use a free trial and play around with it. It just takes time and practice to master the program. There are tons of videos and online resources that you can use to learn and help yourself!

What do you dislike?

SketchUp requires a good bit of time invested in learning the software.

What do you like best?

I use SketchUp to design furniture and fixtures and I can develop 3D models with precise measurements and develop very accurate materials lists.

What do you dislike?

Limited functionality due to relatively simple interface. No export for 3D printing in free version.

What do you like best?

Simple direct-draw interface without a separate "sketch" step, which sometimes confuses users who are new to CAD. Great flexibility with keyboard shortcuts.

Recommendations to others considering the product

For more power that is also free, including export for 3D printing, look at AutoDesk Fusion 360. Longer learning curve, but well worth it!

What do you dislike?

It can be a little "organic" when modeling. I found the learning curve a bit steep to be able to create good quality models.

What do you like best?

That it is free. I can do so much without having to upgrade to the Pro version. Its quick, easy to use and if modeled correctly, easy to edit. I use it to present my other 3d models as they styles really help create great marketing images of our 3D models.

Recommendations to others considering the product

1. Buy the Pro version. Now that the modeling free version is only online, its horrible to use. The extra functions of importing/exporting other files makes all the difference for me.

2. When modeling, make groups... lots of groups. It will make editing your model a lot easier!

The fact that the naming called SketchUp can not be associated with Building Information Modeling.

Three-dimensional modeling possible with minimal primitives.

Be able to edit points, lines and surfaces directly.

Two-dimensional CAD command that can utilize three-dimensional space.
