What do you dislike about the product?

The Git integration can be improved and is a bit slow.
In the previous versions we had a number of bugs - now mostly solved.

What do you like best about the product?

It has a clear and easy to understand interface to design jobs and services.
The same way you design data integration job can be used to design services.
It is easy to enhance by custom components and can adapt to all requirements.
It is Open Source.
It has a very huge list of connectors to all databases, SAP, cloud platforms and can work with nearly all formats like JSON, XML, Excel, CSV or what ever - also main frame formats are usable like EBCDIC.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Start with a training and choose right at the beginning a consulting partner.

What do you dislike about the product?

Transition flow are not very visible and meaningful. Input/ouput messages at particular pallete level are not informative.

What do you like best about the product?

The best thing availability of underline java source code inside process view. You can directly edit java code to tweak the logic.

You must have excellent data integration concepts.

What do you dislike about the product?

The interface can be deceiving on first glance. You really need to understand each of the components before you know its inputs and outputs fully. In fact, I occasionally had a problems with the interface not showing up completely. That was in an older version and may have been fixed now. It can be confusing understanding how data will be mapped between components. Our projects end up being a Java "black-box" requiring Talend to modify, even when compiled to run from the command line. That wouldn't be a problem if our entire process was contained within Talend, and online unofficial and official support channels were helpful in overcoming such issues.

What do you like best about the product?

Talend Data Integration is one of many Talend products that helps us simplify ETL processes that were previously scattered among various shell scripts and stored procedures. Once the basics and components are understood, you can create almost any extract or load script imaginable by simply dragging components over from the tool palette and wiring them together. Processes can be run from within the GUI or compiled to shell scripts for hooking into other processes. The tool is widely used, so it's easy to find support online. This includes official support forums and a knowledge base hosted by Talend.

What do you dislike about the product?

After building your solution, the implantation part (taking it from workspace to production) is not as clear as all other parts. And took me several times doing it before I felt even the remotely comfortable.

What do you like best about the product?

The community is very active, and by this point most problems that you could run into, others have and already solved.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

follow the tutorials!
the interface is intuitive enough to jump in, but if you want to be effective, do the tutorials.

What do you dislike about the product?

The main deficiency in my opinion is that there is still a need for coding in Java for some more specific work, which restricts a little the public who can make the best use of the tool.

What do you like best about the product?

I think the best feature of Talend is the free version. This version can meet 80% of data integration activities in most companies, and some companies may be sufficient. There are many great features for free. The interface is simple and easy to understand and work.

It is im my opinion the first tool that anyone should look when searching for options.

Some years ago, Talend was very immature software, but now this is changing very fast.

What do you like best about the product?

Talend is one of the more easy integration software to use, the learning curve is also very low.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Same or more functionalities that other vendors with low price.
Very easy to yse.

What do you dislike about the product?

Things can get complicated and it is difficult to manage the complexity.
Larger jobs get slow
The Java code generation can get out of sync with the custom work that you do

What do you like best about the product?

The drag and drop interface
Treating files and databases as simple input and output
Can produce executable jars even in the free version
Because it is java you can use any libraries you need to

It is a great product. We did not try the other expensive alternatives and felt Talend did all we needed.
